Seattle designer Michael Kritzer saw Kokeshi dolls when he traveled to Japan. He was inspired by this puppet with a particularly large head and cylindrical body. Because Kokeshi has no arms and legs, its clean and simple body shape is like It is what the bottles and cups look like when they are stacked together. Michael came up with the design and collaborated with Japanese pottery masters to create a series of porcelain cup sets - Ototi Dorinku Dolls.

The production team of the Ototi porcelain cup set comes from Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, which is famous for its ceramics.
