The gourd has a long history of planting in my country. Its sound is close to the word "Fu Lu", and it has the meaning of having descendants for generations and having many children and good fortune. Therefore, people usually regard it as a mascot and call it an "auspicious gourd". Gourd carving is an ancient handicraft art of carving gourds, and is loved by many hand-carving enthusiasts. On June 7, 2008, gourd carving was approved by the State Council and included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
