If industrial materials such as car parts, fuel tanks, and shovels, which have always given people a hard feeling, are transformed into delicate carved art, it will be like dressing King Kong in Barbie doll clothes. They may look as mismatched as possible. Doesn't match. Artist Cal Lanes series of works, Industrial Doilies, challenges this contradictory image. He uses a welding gun to leave elegant and classical carving patterns on these "tough guys" one by one. The results are unexpectedly stunning.
Lane studied painting, welding and sculpture in the past. He obtained a masters degree in creative art in sculpture from the State University of New York in the United States. He has continued to create since graduation. Most of these delicate and complex decorative patterns come from religious ceremonies such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals. Lane believes that although the combination of these extreme elements may seem absurd and incomprehensible, it attracts people to further observe the nature and positioning of things. Birds of a feather flock together may have its truth, but it is not the only truth, and Lanes works seem to let us see the tender side of the "iron" man.
