This set of "Beetle JewelryJewelry" comes from Auckland artist Alexis Pavlantos , each of these lifelike rings and necklaces with beetle appearances is carved by hand.
Pavlantos often uses an ancient form of carving to complete these works.
He called it "lost wax casting," in which he first used wax to carve the insects shape to create a mold.
Then, once the metal mold is created, molten bronze or silver is poured inside, creating a truly one-of-a-kind object.
Pavlantos grew up in the vast region of the American Southwest, a region that gave her a deep love for nature.
This also gave her the inspiration to create this series of works.
