Simple yet magical indigo dyeing involves bundling, squeezing and folding clothes soaked in dye to create a beautiful dyed effect.
The materials and tools required include: indigo dye, reducing agent, rubber bands, etc., as well as white clothing.
Pour water into a plastic bucket, add indigo dye, and stir evenly. Then pour the reducing agent dissolved in hot water into the indigo dye solution, stir thoroughly, then cover the dye solution and let it sit for 30-60 minutes.
Method 1: Wrap the clothes around a branch and tie it with a rubber band.
Method 2: Fold the fabric as shown in the picture below and clamp it with two pieces of wood.
Method 3: Use stones instead of branches to create a circular pattern effect on the fabric.
Put the bundled clothes into a plastic bucket. The longer the dyeing time, the darker the color will be.
The dye solution is yellow-green and turns blue when it oxidizes.
Pick up the dyed cloth and let it sit for half an hour before untying it.
The tied part is white because the dye cannot penetrate. The thicker the rubber band, the better the effect.
Aren’t the colors of the dyed clothes and scarves very beautiful?!
Blankets or long skirts can also be dyed, but be sure to wear gloves during the entire process~
Take out some thin clothing and try DIY. When spring comes, you can wear your own DIY clothes~
