The wondrous beauty of the animal kingdom has always been a source of inspiration for artist Niharika Rajput. In particular, she found birds to be her greatest inspiration, and she sought to capture their likenesses in exquisite paper and wire sculptures.
The artist, who is based in New Delhi, initially created three-dimensional figurines featuring wildlife. Niharika Rajput has always been fond of birds, so naturally she takes them as the main subjects of her creations and is full of motivation. She creates intricate sculptures based on different birds and strives to restore the exact details of their eyes, beaks and feathers.
Through steady and careful work, Niharika Rajput intends to create a sculpture for each type of living bird. The young artist has produced many stunning reproductions, and she goes to great lengths to apply precise features to each subject, making the sculptures look so lifelike that they tempt the viewer to question whether they are real.
Studying paper allows Niharika Rajput to explore the characteristics of different species, while also providing her with a way to raise awareness of animal endangered species and promote bird conservation in India and other parts of the world.
