An ordinary piece of paper, under the skillful hands of the artist duo Julie Wilkinson and Joyanne Horscroft, has become a beautiful paper sculpture creation that only appears in the fairy tale world. In the new series of works Artemis, the classic flower wallpaper of the same name from the British home design brand House of Hackney is transformed from a flat pattern into a three-dimensional bouquet paper sculpture!
Julie Wilkinson and Joyanne Horscroft, respectively from Italy and London, met when they were in college. They were both fascinated by antiques, fairy tales and forgotten exquisite things, so they founded Makerie Studio together after graduation. In addition to paper sculpture creation, special craft paper and 3D printing technology are also used to create a variety of stunning paper art works in the fields of window displays, advertising and art collections.
The original House of Hackney wallpaper Artemis series was inspired by the red hell garden-like living room of the late legendary fashion queen Diana Vreeland, which was psychedelic and wild. In order to faithfully reproduce this texture, As well as the emotions and amazement of the public when they first saw it, the two spent a lot of time and went through countless digital corrections to put the bouquet into shape. The color tone is adjusted to create a rich and gorgeous visual effect like a gemstone.
What finally appeared in front of everyone were flowers with different postures. The delicate petals covered the stamens layer by layer, either in bud or in gorgeous bloom. They competed with each other and were so beautiful. Horscroft said that each flower is its own miniature, each with its own posture and beauty. When put together, they clearly belong to the same universe, like planets in the same solar system, or chocolates in the same box. They are different. The beauty is equally irresistible.
