In order to change the old local scenery, more than 200 houses in an Indonesian town were painted with bright colors, filling the town with new energy. The name of this town was originally Kampung Wonosari. In order to better suit its new appearance, it got a beautiful name - Kampung Pelangi, which translates to "Rainbow Village" in Chinese.
Actually, this kind of rainbow art is a plan of the Indonesian government. They gave this town a subsidy of US$22,000. The dots and colors were inspired by the American stationery brand Lisa Frank. The local government hopes that this will bring benefits to the small town. The town brought more tourists to visit and became famous around the world!
Slamet Widodo, the initiator of this project, told The Jakarta Post: "I hope Kampung Pelangi will become the largest (colorful city) in Indonesia in the future." Now on InstagramJudging from the selfie trend that has been launched, Rainbow Village has already become an emerging attraction attracting many tourists. It seems that the Indonesian government’s “spending a small amount of money” renovation method can be said to be quite successful~
