MAKE THE FRONT ZIPPERPOCKET Cut off the zipper tape ends 3/8" away from the zipper teeth, making the zipper ends seams. Place the front pocket zipper exterior ends onto the end of the front pocket zipper with right sides together. Pin and stitch. < p style="text-align: center;">Outing backpack production process

Place the front pocket zipper lining ends onto the back-side end of the front pocket zipper with right sides together. Pin and stitch the end, backstitching on both ends.

Turn the zipper ends right side out, and press the seam. Topstitch the zipper ends, 1/8" away from the seam.

Attach the other zipper ends following the same process.

Place the front pocket zipper onto the exterior front pocket with right sides together.Pin the zipper and front pocket in place. Stitch the two using a zipper foot, sewing close to the tape edge. Backstitch on both ends to secure.

Clip the zippers rounded seams.

Place the front pocket lining piece onto the exterior piece with right sides together. The zipper will now be between the exterior and lining pieces. Sew the front pocket and zipper together close to the zipper coils. Backstitch on both ends.

Outing backpack production processFlip the front pocket right side out. Topstitch on the front pocket 1/8" away from the seam.

Place the front pocket piece and exterior front piece with exterior sides together. Pin each of the center points first.

And then, pin each of the ending points with exterior sides together.

Pin the rest of the seam. Clip the exterior front seam as needed. Sew both pieces together, backstitch on both ends.

Assembled exterior front piece wrong side facing, place the 'front pocket back piece' piece onto the front piece. Pin and baste the exterior front and front pocket back piece with right sides together.

Flip the seam toward the exterior front, topstitch 1/8" away from the seam.

Pin and baste the exterior front and lining front pieces with wrong sides together.

MAKE THE HANDLEFold each side of the leather handle 1/2" towards the center with the wrong sides facing each other.

Fold the leather piece in half. Stitch along the folded edge 1/8" from the edge.

Place the leather handle onto the top of the exterior back piece as indicated on the pattern. Pin and baste together. Pin and baste in place.

MAKE THE BUCKLE HOLDERSFold the leather buckle holder piece in half lengthwise with the wrong sides facing each other.

Topstitch either side of the leather buckle holder 1/8" from the edge. If you want to paint or finish the edge of the strap, See Appendixes L, Finish the Edge of the Leather Strap.

Punch a hole in the center of the buckle holder.

Insert the buckle holder through the buckle bar side. Assemble the other buckle strap holder in the same manner.

Fold the buckle holder in half. Stitch 3/4" away from the folded end or attach the 8mm double capped rivet 3/4" away from the folded end. See Appendixes G, Attach the Double Capped Rivets. Repeat this process for the other buckle holder.

Outing backpack production process< /p>Place the buckle holder onto the bottom corner of the exterior back piece as indicated on the pattern. Pin and baste together. Repeat this process for the other buckle holder piece.

MAKE THE STRAPMake the leather back strap. See Appendix C-1, Make the Leather Strap.Place the end of the back strap onto the top of the exterior back the as indicated on the pattern. Pin and baste in place.

Repeat this process for the other back strap.
