From the author of Instructables imamathguys post many years ago: On my way to get off work by bicycle, I picked up a ripped baseball on the side of the road. It looked so good that I put it in my bag and took it home. I couldn't find any information on making a baseball online, so I had to use my imagination to fix it. I used a knife to carefully pick out the sutures, and it turned out that a baseball is just two pieces of leather sewn onto a bladder. The outside looked dirty and worn, but the bladder inside was still intact, so I was going to replace it with a new skin.
I unfolded the skin and scanned it, and then in In Illustrator, draw a curve to cut out the holes, and the drawing is ready. Print out the drawing, cut out two pieces of the same piece of leather along the drawing, and start sewing again. It is best to use waxed wire, which is about 9 feet long.
Sew leather just like tying shoelaces (this stitch is called a baseball stitch), without having to tighten the thread at the beginning. About 3/4 of the way through, I soaked the leather and put the bladder in, then sewed all the cut holes, and then tightened the wax thread step by step.
The final tightening of the stitches to tie the knot really stumped me. No matter how I did it, the knot was easily exposed. . (The editor reminds you to refer to the method of this leather friend in the video below) After drying overnight, it is already a brand new baseball ^^
Two days ago I saw a video of Korean studio Hahns Atelier replacing a baseball cover. Maybe you also want to learn to make one. Watch the video http://v.qq.com/x/page/i082534068e.html Download drawings http://img1.pixiaojiang.com/20190110Baseball.pdf
