In August 1988, Fangzheng County won the title of Outstanding Paper-cut Art Creation Group in Heilongjiang Province. In February 1989, Fangzhengs paper-cut work "Going to the Market" won the third prize in the first China Paper-cut Competition held by the China Artists Association. In March 1990, Fangzhengs paper-cutting works won the first, second, and third prizes in the National Paper-cutting Awards, and some of his works were published in the "Chinese Paper-cutting Art" newspaper. In June, eight of Fangzhengs paper-cutting authors were rated as provincial outstanding paper-cutting workers.
