Ratan weaving is a traditional practical handicraft, which generally requires rattan cutting (removing knots on the rattan), picking rattan, washing rattan, drying rattan, twisting rattan, pulling rattan (planing rattan), peeling rattan, bleaching, There are more than a dozen processes including dyeing, weaving, and painting.
However, the DIY tutorial for this beautiful rattan storage basket that I want to share below does not need to be so complicated. It is woven using processed rattan.
Cut a cane of similar length. Soak in warm water for about an hour, then take it out to remove the moisture from the rattan.
Here is a demonstration of making a square storage basket, so the length and number of horizontal and vertical rattans are 7. The length is determined according to the size of the desired storage basket.
Arrange the 7 canes closely and secure them with tape.
Start to offset the bottom of the weaving storage basket laterally.
Interweave to create a square base.
The rattan is very flexible and will not break even if it is bent like this.
Fold all the canes on the bottom edge like this.
Start knitting the sides of the storage basket.
Woven storage basket sides.
A ruler is indispensable and is often used in the process of basket weaving.
The storage basket looks like it.

Start the final finishing step by inserting the excess rattan into the braided rattan.
In order to increase the strength of the basket, a rattan is added to the inside.
The extra part is also inserted into the rattan.
The square rattan storage basket is durable and can be used to store various sundries. Make one if you like~
