Inspired by symbols of strength and unity, Italian street artist ERON created a mural of a raised clenched fist to celebrate the power of non-violence. The epic, large-scale work, aptly named "Tower of the People," has a fist composed of a mass of hand-painted white roses, representing unity, virtue, and pure love. Spray-painted onto the citys Electric Brick Tower, it was specially created for the 2018 Cantiere Poetico cultural festival in Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy.
ERON paints using the classic chiaroscuro technique, using light and shadow to create the illusion of three-dimensional depth. A powerful and delicate fist of flowers appears to protrude from the wall. The artist explained: "Tower of the People" expresses "the power of gentleness, the power of non-violence, the victory of kindness, the perfection of harmony and the desire for freedom, peace among people all over the world."
In another work titled "Le Monument", ERON transformed a five-story building near Bernard de Jussieu in Versailles, France. The mural features multiple hands reaching out to grab a dove in flight, representing both humanitys desire for peace and our tendency to destroy the environment.
