The miniature artwork may be small, but the presentation of detail is eye-catching - every element of the subject is scaled down and often fits in the palm of your hand. Melbournes Beinart Gallery has an exhibition dedicated to these tiny artworks. Dubbed the Miniature Art Group Exhibition, the exhibition is co-curated by artist Joshua Smith (known for his incredible scaled-down architectural works) and features the work of 30 artists from around the world.
The works range from paintings to architectural models to sculptures, each demonstrating the astonishing amount of work that went into their creation. Buildings, in particular, represent some of the most impressive qualities of miniature art.
The Beinart Gallery talks about why we are so fascinated by miniature art. "This is a world reimagined on a completely different scale, where even Thumbelina can be considered giant," they wrote in a statement. "Miniature art delights the eye and has the potential to tease the brain. ." The miniature art exhibition will be held from March 7 to March 29, 2020.
