How to transform a loose T-shirt into a sleeveless shirt. If you are tired of wearing loose T-shirts, or you have successfully lost weight, what should you do with those large T-shirts at home? Should you throw them away? What a pity! You can consider renovating old items and DIY them into waisted sleeveless shirts. The finished product is shown in the picture below. The effect is great. Don’t hesitate if you like it. Find an old T-shirt at home and try it out. Narrow the side seams. Line, and sew a thin pleat under the waist. The transformation is so simple!
1) Find the waist position of the T-shirt, cut it horizontally a few centimeters below the waist, and cut the T-shirt into two parts: the body and the hem.
2) Cut off the two sleeves along the seam line at the left and right armholes of the body. This step is optional, if you like the sleeves on the original T-shirt, you can leave them uncut.
3) Turn the body inside out and sew a new side seam next to the side seam of the body to narrow the waist and bust of the T-shirt. The specific narrowing size will depend on your body shape.
4) Sew a circle along the hem, then tighten the threads to form fine pleats, making sure to keep the fine pleats evenly distributed.
5) Put the hem of the garment outside the body, with the front sides of the fabric facing each other, aligning the lower edges, and sew the lower edges with a Z-shaped stitch.
6) Trim excess rough edges and turn them over to the front. This is how a new slim-fitting T-shirt is transformed.
