Rose originates from China. In Japan, Rosa rugosa is called Hama pear and Hama eggplant, and in North Korea, it is called ???begonia flower. Rose is one of the top ten traditional Chinese flowers and one of the four major cut flowers in the world. It is known as the "Queen of Flowers".
Let’s follow the craft editor to make a big rose by hand. It is a good choice to give it to your loved ones or to decorate your home. At the end of this article, we also introduce the meaning of roses. You can make roses of different colors according to your needs~
First, you need to enlarge the DIY petal template according to the picture above to what you want.
You also need to prepare: paper flower stems, plant tape, craft glue, and round pencils.
Needs to cut: 5 small petals, 15 heart-shaped petals, 3 leaves, a calyx, 2 1" wide strips of crepe paper.
After cutting out these shapes, iron the crepe paper a little if needed to remove any deep wrinkles. Then start making the stems by wrapping the three paper stems together and securing them with plant tape, stretching the tape to make it more sticky. Keep a wet wipe nearby to wipe off any sticky residue on your hands.
You need to organize the shape of each petal. When making small petals, start folding from the middle of the petals, carefully turn them up and down, and fold them tightly. Use a pencil to curl the upper part of the petals so that they form a natural curl outward. Use the same movement to make the large petals, but also start stretching from the middle, do not stretch at the bottom and around the edges, and be careful about wrinkles. The upper part of the petals should also be curled. Making the petals is a lengthy process, but try to keep the shape of the petals consistent.
Now you need to make a flower bud out of five small petals. Place the bottom of the petals tightly against the stem, and wrap each petal tightly, rotating the stem after each additional petal, until all 5 petals are used up. After the flower buds are wrapped, fix them with tape. The length of the wrapping should be longer. Wrap tape from the head of the rhizome to the end of the petals to fix the flower buds.
Next, start adding 15 heart-shaped petals. Start by adding two petals at a time, and then attach them all together when there are only a few left. Each time you add petals you will need to rotate the stem slightly to distribute the petals evenly. After each petal or several petals are added, secure them with tape, wrapping them all the way from the petals until they touch the green stem. Once you have the last few leaves in place and look down at the flower from above, slightly adjust the shape of the petals to create the perfect bloom.
When all the petals are fixed, next we need to make the calyx. Turn the bouquet upside down and secure the calyx paper pieces to the base of the flowers one by one. When fixing, you need to keep the leaves flat and fit them as close as possible to the flower stem, and then use tape to wrap from the bottom of the calyx to the bottom of the flower to fix the position.
The bouquet is ready, now let’s start making the stems and leaves. Apply a thick layer of glue to the middle part of the leaf, and stick a piece of paper flower stem on it. Fold both sides and pinch the middle to fix the leaf and stem, and wait for the glue to dry. When the glue in the middle is completely dry, pinch the rhizome from the back, then carefully open the leaves on both sides and flatten them. Add a little glue to the bottom of the leaf and wrap a strip of crepe paper from the base, just like you did with tape, all the way to the bottom of the stem. You only need to add a little glue at the beginning and end to secure the crepe strips, no more glue is needed in between. Repeat these actions to make two more leaves.
Now you need to temporarily fix the large leaves on the main stem of the flower. Place them in a position and wrap them with tape a few times. After fixing, bend the leaves back to leave room for the following actions. Apply a dab of glue just below the calyx and start wrapping another strip of crepe paper around the stem from there, slowly working your way down. When the strip of paper is wrapped around the place where the leaf is fixed, continue to wrap it down to cover the place where the leaf is fixed. Then continue wrapping to the bottom of the stem and secure the last bit of sandpaper to the stem with glue. Finally, adjust the bending degree of the leaves, and a rich and auspicious big red rose is finished~!
