Artist Lisa Lloyd’s carefully crafted paper bird sculptures are lifelike. In addition to all kinds of beautiful birds, she also enjoys making butterflies, their realism is amazing, especially those fine details. Lloyd uses tiny pieces of scalloped paper to construct feathers and wings, which often results in a staggering 4,000 pieces of paper being used on a single model.
Before sculpting the wings, Lloyd had an idea of ??how they would look in real life. "I determine the details by studying video in motion as well as still images from as many angles as possible," she said. "I also like to observe the way they move, head movements and mannerisms to try to capture their personality."
“I used cardboard to make the internal skeleton. Except for the legs made of wires, these models are 100% paper.” The woodpeckers, bluebirds and robins in Lloyd’s latest works took her about two years. Completed in months.
