Rainbows are beautiful and joyful to people. They represent that the sky will clear after the rain, and that things are rare. Therefore, many artists like to use rainbows as creative ideas. The contemporary art platform Blue Star created a public installation called "Plexus C18" at the San Antonio International Airport (SAT) in the United States. Starting in October 2016, San Antonio International Airport will welcome international travelers with a colorful rainbow.
The installation utilizes colorful threads outlined across approximately 90 miles of walls and ceilings to simulate the dynamic shape of an airplane, creating a prism-like effect using more than 19 colors representing the full spectrum of visible light. The large-scale woven string sculpture will remain at San Antonio International Airport for three years.
Colorful silk threads extend towards the ceiling, creating a vibrant yet soft layer of tones.
The beauty of this installation art will be seen in the eyes of passengers entering and leaving the airport in the next three years! I hope "Plexus C18" will bring them a happy journey.
