Czech designer Tadeá? Podrack?s "Umbrella Table and Stool". In order to learn the production techniques of paper umbrellas and copperware, he chose to personally visit local factories in Yuhang, China to find knowledge and inspiration, and integrate it into furniture design to complete a set. A unique piece of work.
Yuhang has inherited a variety of fine skills throughout the ages, including oil-paper umbrellas, musical instruments, sculptures, bronzes, etc. It is a city with profound cultural heritage. Podrack? learned from local masters and gained an in-depth understanding of the structure and principles of oil-paper umbrellas. From this, he understood that paper umbrellas have the traditional Chinese meanings of relieving disasters, achieving perfection and having many children, and praying for blessings. He then incorporated this into his design.
The final work has a symmetrical beauty and linear balance, and the shiny appearance made of copper looks resolute and elegant. This design combines classical and modern styles, adding new ideas to the tradition.
