This follows the fact that when the church commemorates saints, they often decorate them with blooming flowers. Caused by the altar! In medieval Catholic monasteries, various flowers were planted like a garden center. Over time, the church combined the 366-day saints with different flowers to form the so-called floral calendar. At that time, most of the monasteries were located in southern Europe, which had a Mediterranean climate and was very suitable for growing flowers and plants. The mountain mushroom is a tough bulbous herb belonging to the Liliaceae family. It is dedicated to St. John of Nebomak, a Prague monk who was executed by King Ventjeslas in 93 AD.
