Basic model, I only talk about the most basic production methods, so they are all plain and the styles are the simplest. You may not think it is cool or even look bad, so please forgive me. The key is that everyone can quickly master the basic methods of making flip-flops. We print out the paper template to see if it fits our feet. If the size is not suitable, we can scale and print the paper grid. Download drawings http://img2.pixiaojiang.com/20200618tx0.pdf

Adjust to the appropriate size, and then we start. There are three paper grids, corresponding to different thicknesses of leather. The soles are made of 2.5-3.0-shaped primary color vegetable tanned leather.

Instep strap , use raw color vegetable tanned leather with a look of 2.0-2.5.

Pinch The straps are made of raw vegetable tanned leather around 1.0.

I use curves Use a leather knife to cut; use a utility knife to cut straight lines to improve efficiency.

Regarding cutting the leather, this step is very simple and should not be difficult. Since it is a basic model, it is all plain. When you make it yourself, you can make decorative lines on the edges. , leather carving knife lines, or even using a printing tool to knock a circle of lace, which will be more beautiful.

You also make slippers with a dyed effect. In short, if you make it yourself, feel free to use it. The color, layout, and design can all be whatever you like. .

Next Drill holes in the soles, using different tools for different places. Use a flat punch for the toes, and a punch and leather knife for the heel.

If you have the conditions, you can also directly tap the hole in the back palm with a long flat punch.

No sharp weapons My friend, knock out the round hole at both ends and dig out the middle with a leather knife.

We need to thin the end of the instep strap so that it can be easily inserted into the sole and bent into shape.

I use 801, and it can be done with just two swipes; in fact, it is not troublesome to peel with a paring knife.

The next step is to drill holes. Anyway, you follow the instructions Just print the final adjusted drawing by yourself.

One thing to add here is that the thinned edges of the instep strips are still thick and need to be filled in manually.

This is where you see it, it’s still thick. It needs to be completely thinned.

If it is not completely thinned, When padded in leather, there will be bulges, which may reduce the comfort of the soles of the feet.

Use a paring knife to gently peel along the edge until there is no thickness at the edge.

This is the desired final effect, a complete slope with no "thickness" at the edge.

The edges of the strips are chamfered and then polished to improve the comfort of the instep.

Finally, put on your favorite logo.

After that, we apply mink oil again to moisturize it.

After sorting, I started suturing. I used flat wax thread and Lingzhan for punching, so the visual effect is a bit rougher.

First sew the instep Straps and clip-on straps.

Then, put Fix the foot strap strips and sew them again. Look carefully at the picture below.

Note here , the two parts of skin that pinch the foot, the part of the skin that wraps the outside is facing downward, that is, pinching the foot between the big toe and the second big toe.

Look below Picture, do you understand? The next step is to sew the leg straps onto the soles.

OK, done . Next, sew the instep strips to the sole.

All sewn , has begun to take shape.

Then, look at the back, where we will apply some glue.

Glue well so that the skin will not warp when processing the next step.

The next step is to attach the EVA buffer layer . To explain, since it is a basic model, I have attached EVA directly here. For those who are demanding, you can put a piece of latex sponge on the heel and forefoot to make drums, which is both beautiful and comfortable. These operations will be discussed in The advanced model is demonstrated in the tutorial.

A brief introduction to the steps of pasting EVATo clarify, the first chemicals to be used are leather treatment agent, EVA treatment agent, and PU glue. These are all sold online. The operation process is: first apply the treatment agent evenly on the EVA and soles respectively. After the treatment agent dries, apply PU glue; then dry it with a hot air gun. After it is no longer sticky, you can stick it together. Principle Its very simple. You need to be in a hurry to operate it, and your hands are dirty, so its not very convenient to take videos. I won't take pictures of the specific operations. If you don't understand, you can send me a private message.

After posting , use a hammer to knock it flat.

Then there is sewing Thread, in this step I machine sew.

Look at the bottom The effect is pretty good.

Use the cutter Cut off the excess with a knife.

The next step is to attach the rubber sole Yes, it’s the same as sticking EVA, treatment agent, PU glue.

Rubber soles are OK Use something better, I use imported TOPY sheet, 2-3mm is fine.

Rubber sole The operation process is the same as that of EVA and will not be described again. In short, the treatment agent must be applied first, and then the PU glue.

Similarly, after attaching the rubber sole, remove the excess material Cut out.

Finally, the edges need to be sanded smooth on a belt sander. Since the dust is too big and the operation is simple, I can't take pictures by myself, so I won't take pictures in this step.

After polishing, pour the edge Just one foot and you're done.

Finally, we Apply mink oil again, raw color vegetable tanning, still need to apply more oil and grow slowly~

Okay, here are some photos of the finished product~

How about it, the flexibility of this bottom is pretty good.

TOPYs base is of excellent quality~

This combination of base materials will make your base stiffer and have no rebound effect. If you need softness and elasticity, please use latex Sponge, we will introduce it in the production of advanced flip-flops.

This is the introduction to the production of basic flip-flops. I look forward to the production of advanced models in the next issue, which will be more exciting~ This article is reproduced from the WeChat public account "Four-leaf spinach is not a vegetable" senior independent Shoemaker, focusing on private customization and hobby training of traditional Goodyear handmade leather shoes.
