This is a simple felt craft tutorial to make a beautiful pencil case. You can also use it to hold glasses, makeup brushes/brushes, notebooks, mobile phones and even travel documents.
Put all the odds and ends into this cute handmade cloth bag, which is not only easy to find, but also looks pleasing to the eye. If you are also a little tempted, let’s start learning by following the steps below!~
Material Tools:
Felt cloth (choose your favorite color)
Embroidery thread and needle
Velcro 1cm
Hot glue gun
Scissors
1. To make a pencil case, you need to cut out two rectangular pieces of felt cloth: 10cmX20cm and 10cmX30cm.
2. Cut the fabric piece, thread the sutures, and start the hand sewing step.
3. Use the blanket stitch sewing method (actually it is what we often call the overlock stitch. After the needle passes through the fabric, just wrap the thread around it and then bring the thread with it) and sew the bottom and two sides respectively.
4. Start sewing from the bottom.
5. When inserting the needle through the cloth, first pass it halfway through the needle, take the thread at the end of the needle and wrap it around the needle head from left to right, and then pull the needle out.
6. Blanket stitch is a decorative stitch that looks beautiful on both sides, neat and symmetrical.
7. Sew the bottom edge and continue to sew the two side edges, also using a blanket needle.
8. The basic functions of the pencil case are now in place, now let’s start with the decoration part.
9. Cut out simple shapes from colored felt: some leaves, a flower and a center.
10. Place all the cut felt pieces on the white felt cloth and try to place them into a satisfactory pattern.
11. Do some simple embroidery, very basic.
12. It is easy to embroider three to four stitches on the leaves and some French knots in the middle of the flowers.
13. There is no need to embroider too complicatedly, minimalism works best.
14. Use a hot glue gun to paste the embroidered piece of fabric onto the white felt.
15. Then cut along the edge of the flower leaves, leaving a small border of 2-3 mm. It needs to be cut very carefully to avoid accidentally cutting off decorative elements.
16. Fold the top flap and glue the fabric pattern on, and cut the bottom edge of the flap according to the shape.
17. Attach the Velcro.
18. A beautiful fabric pencil case is ready!
Be brave enough to try and don’t underestimate your own learning ability. I believe everyone can handle it successfully~
