Production steps:
1. Prepare the slices:
1. Cut a piece of linen, lining, adhesive lining, size 26 x 11 inches per piece.
2. Attach the lining paper to the reverse side of the linen according to the instructions on the lining paper (the typical method is to glue the uneven side of the lining paper to the wrong side of the fabric)
3. Cut two strips of 24X4 inchesof linen (this will be the bag)
4. Place the linen cloth so that the opposite sides are together, iron it with an iron, open the cloth strip, fold both sides toward the middle (the crease you just ironed) and press it several times. The same goes for another bag.
5. Use a sewing machine to sew in a simple straight line along the long side of the linen strap close to the edge, and sew on both sides. For this step, I use a long stitch length (3.0 on my machine), and place On the side.
2. Decal:
1. Print the decal model (confirm the print settings and select None for the page scaling ratio, otherwise the printed image will be smaller) and cut out the clouds and raindrops.
2. Cut a piece of singular lining a little larger than the cloud and glue its rough side to the reverse side of the decal.
3. Remove the paper model from the fabric and cut out the front of the fabric along the edge of the lining.
4. Fix the paper model of the decal on the back of the decal and glue it on with a little lining. Since you have to cut along the model paper of the clouds, it is more useful to glue it on. Peel off the paper model. Repeat steps 2-4 to make raindrops.
5. Fold the large rectangular piece of linen fabric in half, one side of the crease will determine the center line. Open the linen fabric and place it right side on the ironing board. Place the right side of the appliqué on top of the linen fabric, placing it according to the dimensions in the picture below.
6. Use a hot iron to stick the decals and linen fabric together, and use a hot iron to stick the raindrops on the underside of the clouds. The lowest raindrop is 2-3 inches above the center line.
7. Use a sewing machine to sew a circle along the edge of the applique. If you are using satin embroidery stitches, practice on a scrap of fabric before applying the applique. Remember to start from the outer edge of the applique. needle, or use a simple straight stitch to sew inside the raw edge, which I will be using next. (I like to use a small stitch, which is 2.0 on my machine, so the curved appliqué is flatter) Either way work slowly and sew.
8. You may find it useful to roll the linen fabric up from the bottom edge and secure it with pins, as it makes sewing the fabric by hand easier.
3. Sewing straps:
1. Use a pin to fix the prepared bag strap to the front of the appliquéd linen. There should be a 2-1/2-inch seam edge between the bag strap and the linen cloth, as shown in the picture below; and make sure it is In the middle of the linen surface, check to see if the strap is twisted. I like the hem of the strap to be in the middle of the bag. Repeat for the other strap.
2. Place the bottom end of the strap on the edge of the linen surface, about 1/4 inch.
3. Fold the appliqué linen face-to-face so that the front sides are together, align the top and bottom sides of the short sides, and secure the long sides with pins.
4. Use triple stitch to sew the long side, leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Trim the bottom corners without cutting to the line.
5. Turn out the front of the bag and use chopsticks or an awl to turn out the corners.
6. Fold the lining of the bag in half, fold the fronts together, and secure the sides with pins. Use triple thread to leave a 1/4" seam allowance, and sew from top to bottom. Do the same with the other side, but leave about 3 inches unstitched near the bottom. At least two inches. Trim the edges but don't turn the linen right side out. .
7. Put the linen bag inside the lining and make sure the strap is hanging inside the lining. The front of the linen surface needs to be opposite to the front of the lining. Don't sew the top side, use a pin to secure the whole circle.
8. Triple stitch the top of the bag with 1/2 inch thread, No. 14 is easier to sew. If your sewing machine has movable arms, you can use them now. The next time they are used is for false stitching in step 12.
9. Turn the front of the bag over through the hole previously made, and put the linen noodles on the outside of the bag
10. Turn over the bottom of the fabric, sew the excess seam in a straight line along the turned hole, and press it flat with an iron. You can also sew by hand using hidden thread or ladder stitch, or you can sew the raw edges with a machine (zigzag stitch is more suitable). Don’t forget to backstitch.
11. Put the lining back into the bag and iron it along the top of the bag to make sure the lining is not exposed, so that the bag will look neat after the false stitches are sewn.
12. Sew very close to the top of the bag with a false stitch. I like to use a slightly longer stitch. (It is 3.0 on my machine)
The handbag with a fresh and cute rain pattern is finished. It is a perfect size for holding magazines or laptops. It is beautiful and practical.
