Wristband is an optional accessory for handbags. Although it is inconspicuous, it is very convenient and practical to use. Here I will introduce to you how to make your own handbag wristband. These beautiful homemade fabric wristbands can be used to decorate handbags or used as key rings.
Materials needed to make your own handbag wristband:
Cotton webbing, 1 inch wide, 10 inches long;
Printed ribbon, 3/4" wide, 10" long;
Double-sided adhesive lining.
Metal covered buckle, 1 inch wide.
How to make a handbag wristband:
1) Cut the fabric. Cut cotton webbing and satin ribbon according to your wristband usage habits, usually about 10 inches in length. Also cut a piece of lining strip that is slightly smaller than the ribbon.
2) Iron the lining. Use an iron to iron the lining strip between the cotton webbing and satin ribbon.
3) Sew the wristband. Sew a line of topstitch along both sides of the ribbon. The color of the sewing thread is reasonably selected according to the color of the ribbon and webbing.
4) Install the metal buckle. Here comes a barbed metal buckle. Fold the wristband in half, insert the end into the middle of the metal buckle, and secure it with pliers. In order to prevent the pliers from damaging the surface coating of the metal buckle, it is necessary to wrap several layers of tape around the pliers' mouth.
After making this fabric wristband, you can put it into your bag and use it.
