Hemming tutorial teaches you how to use velvet to hem blankets, quilt covers, pillowcases, bags, etc. It is a very practical manual skill. Once you learn it, you can use it at home~
Main materials:
1 piece of blanket and 1 piece of floral cloth
Tools required:
Scissors, sewing machine, ruler, pencil
Production steps:
Step 1:
Prepare a large enough piece of floral cloth and choose the pattern you like. The key is that the width is wide enough, preferably slightly wider than the flannel or blanket that needs to be hemmed, so as to reduce seams and look more beautiful. And fold one corner of the floral fabric toward the back as shown in the picture. The distance from the sharp corner to the hypotenuse is about 10cm.
Step 2:
Keep the creases intact, unfold the fabric with the inside facing up, and use a ruler and pencil to draw an isosceles right triangle about 5cm high in one corner.
Step 3:
Fold the outside of the pencil-lined fabric inward and sew along the pencil-line with a sewing machine as shown. Or you can sew by hand with needle and thread. Note that as shown in the picture, leave about 1cm at both ends without sewing. You can use positioning pins to help fix the position and ensure the regularity of the triangle.
Step 4:
Cut off the excess part just fixed by the positioning pin, leaving about 1cm more width than the stitching line. Fold it inward twice and then sew it up with a sewing machine or by hand to get the effect as shown in the picture. Still be careful not to sew the 1cm left at both ends in the previous step.
Step 5:
Turn the cloth over, right side out, and you will get the effect as shown~
Step 6:
For the straight part, just fold the front edge of the floral fabric inward about 5mm and sew it together with the blanket using a sewing machine.
Step 7:
Repeat the above steps to get a cute and perfect hemming effect~
