I've had a ton of Paper Plate Spiders taking over my house the last few days! Luckily, they're cute creatures that I don't mind!
These colorful spiders are so easy for kids to make, and they make great Halloween decorations!
We used tiny dessert sized paper plates for this Halloween craft. I found that when used with the Twist Stick Spider Feet, they were the perfect size.
Materials needed for this Paper Plate Spider:
Small paper plates (2 per spider)
Acrylic paint (any color of your choice)
Mobile eyes (we used different sizes, 8 per spider)
Twist sticks (4 per spider)
Paint brush
Scissors
Stapler
Glue
1. Paint the bottoms of two small paper plates with acrylic paint and set them aside to dry completely.
2. After the paint is dry, cut the four twist sticks in half to make eight spider legs.
3. Align the two painted paper plates with the paint on both sides facing out. Then staple them at the top to hold them together.
4. Insert about an inch of spider legs between the two paper plates. It is then nailed between two slabs. Do this for all eight legs (four on each side of the tray). Then place additional staples around the paper plate to close it.
5. Bend each twist bar so it looks like a spider leg.
6. Paste eight movable eyes of different sizes on the top.
7. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the top of the paper plate spider and thread a white string through it so it can hang as if it fell from the spider web.
8. This cute paper plate spider is finished~
