Material Tools:
Some autumn leaves (collect some fallen leaves from the ground and press them in a thick book for about a week)
Wax paper
Cylindrical oatmeal box
Iron
Scissors
A piece of orange or red cardboard
Glue (hot glue gun or white glue)
Hole punch
Get handles from paper shopping bags (or use a twist stick)
Tea light (LED)
1. Cut off the bottom 3/4 inch of the cylindrical container. This will be the basis of the lantern.
2. Cut out two pieces of wax paper 18.5 inches wide and 9 inches high. Place one on the ironing board with the leaves so that their brightest side faces you.
3. When the leaves are arranged as desired, carefully place the second piece of wax paper over the leaves. Carefully iron on the wax paper to fuse the two pieces together. at this time,You may need to trim the edges to make them even and straight.
4. Cut some 3/4-inch wide strips from the cardboard. Apply strips of glue along the entire bottom and top edges of the wax paper, making sure the strips are glued to the side that shows the lightest side of the leaf.
5. Next, attach the wax paper to the base by making the bottom of the wax paper flush with the bottom of the base. Carefully glue around the edge of the base and roll the wax paper around it. (Using a hot glue gun makes this step easier, but you have to work quickly) Eventually you will have some overlap between the two wax paper edges, so apply glue from bottom to top over the overlap, closing the lantern into a cylindrical shape.
6. Next, use a hole punch to make two holes near the top of the lantern. The holes should be opposite each other. Attach any type of handle you want to use through the two holes.
Use a small piece of double-sided tape to secure the candle holder or jar to the lantern base and place the tea light inside.
