Maintaining an aquarium full of colorful fish takes a lot of energy. Lindadi felt so strongly about this that when her last fish passed away, she decided to forego a real fish tank and instead create underwater scenes out of yarn. She uses crochet techniques to create things like fish, coral and seashells, then places them in glass jars as if they are actually swimming in the water.
Lindadi has always had a passion for crochet, but she wasn't sure how to bring the underwater vision to life. So she searched online to find patterns of various sea creatures and plants. When its time to secure a small fish, she uses clear nylon thread to suspend the fish, which adds a fun and realistic effect.
Artificial fish tanks became Lindadi’s obsession. “It took me three months to do it all, just looking for inspiration and thinking and making,” she says. Her dedication paid off, with people from around the world marveling at her work and Ask them if you can buy it. Unfortunately for 59-year-old Lindadi, thats not a viable option.
Lindadi filled an aquarium with crocheted fish, shells, corals, etc.
Each piece is hand-crocheted, including the hermit crabs tentacles.
Transparent thread is used to hang the crocheted animals while creating the illusion that they are swimming.
