Rib knitted fabric is a knitted fabric in which a yarn forms wales of coils on the front and back sides in sequence. It has the detachability, curling and extensibility of plain weave fabric, and also has greater elasticity.

The following is a basic crochet hook - the ribbing needle crochet method, which can be used for clothing, hats, handbags, etc. Lets take a look~

Used a size 8 (5mm) crochet hook.

Front double crochet: The crochet hook must be inserted into the first and second stitches from front to back. After passing through the second stitch, move the hook from between the second and third stitches to the front. Skein the yarn again and start the yarn as you would for a regular double crochet.

Back double crochet: You have to insert the crochet hook between the first and second stitches from back to front, and then skein again from front to back between the second and third stitches, and knit like a normal Double crochet the same as starting the yarn.

Now let’s look at specific examples:

Row 1: Double crochet the entire row.

Row 2: We will proceed by alternating front double crochets and back double crochets, like this: 2 front double crochets + 2 back double crochets. Remember, your base chain must be a multiple of 4, if you want to make a wider or thinner rib, the base chain must be a multiple of 2, 6, 8, 10, etc. At the end of the line you must chain 3 to start the next line.

Row 3: Start working opposite the last stitch of the previous row, if you ended with 2 front double hooks, start with 2 back double hooksstart. Remember chain 3 at the end of the line to start the next line.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you reach the desired length.

As you can see, this is an easy stitch to learn, and depending on the combination of front and back double hooks, your ribbing will end up wider or thinner.
