The detailed tutorial for making a static side cross-body bag is out. Can you learn how to make a new bag? The editor of the production department teaches you how to make a static cross-body bag by hand!
How to do it:
- Prepare two pieces of regular fabric for quilting (outside) 87cm vertically x 46cm sideways and the same size (inside) (including 1.5cm seam allowance). The picture on the right below is the finished shoulder bag we want to make. li>
- Pull 18cm of thread from the end (red thread) of the quilting (front) fabric. According to this line, place the short straps at both ends (2 positions) and the hand strap (center) at the red line. For reference, this time I used 2cm wide tape. The horn is 3.5cm from the edge of the fabric (2 places), the handle is 18cm long and centered at 6cm.
li> - To prevent it from moving, please sew temporarily with a sewing machine (black thread). Same everywhere else.
li> - Fold in the middle of the red thread (sandwiching the strip between the quilting), sew (1.5 cm) with the stitch (black thread).
li> - Pull the seam allowance down to the bag section, holding the sewing machine (white thread) in the seam.
- In this way, the bag part is folded in half,
li> - Put the lid on and see the results.
Next, from now on, we will make the inner cloth bag.
li> - Align the quilting and interior fabric with the front and align the ends of the bag section. In the picture, you can't see the upper cover part, but the clamped straps shorten the quilting (I'll adjust that later). Use a sewing machine (red thread) to sew a 1.5 cm allowance.
li> - Return it to the "right side" and use your sewing machine to press down the end seam allowances.
li> - Fold like photo. The reason the black dotted line position has moved 1.5cm is because many of the seam allowances do not overlap. See step "26". In the photo, the entire fabric is not visible.
li> - Fold the inner fabric into increasingly longer lengths. The bottom is in the shape of a "w".
li> - As shown below, it becomes "W".
li> - Then, sew the upper parts of both sides with a seam allowance of 1.5 cm. (red line)
li> - Roll the inner fabric and sew a portion of the unsewn quilting (right black thread). Similarly on the left (the black dot partially overlaps the inner fabric.
li> - Going back to the other side, the quilted side, you can see that both sides are divided into two stitches (red thread and black thread).
li> - Next, turn the inner fabric up so that the quilted side is not sewn, and sew the sides. (yellow line)
li> - On the other inner fabric, make a return opening. On this side, open about 20 cm and sew to one side. (yellow line)
li> - We will make edges for each quilting and inner fabric (this time we made 6cm edges. Take seam allowances and sew to the outside of each.
- I did edge stitching in all four places.
li> - Next lets decide on the shape of the lid and sew the rim (red line).
li> - Cut the sloping extra section of the cover and the rest of the interior fabric, leaving a seam allowance of about 1cm. Flip back through the return opening to the front.
li> - As shown in the figure below, pay attention to the red and yellow lines.
li> - If you integrate two corners, you'll get into trouble like this. Find a return opening and flip it back to the "front".
li> - Close the return opening.
li> - The next thing to do is to attach the shoulders and sew the Velcro.
- As shown in the picture below, there is a margin of 1.5cm at the opening.
li> - Our beautiful shoulder bag is finished. Isn't it better than whats sold in stores? This is where I will introduce you to how to hand-make a static cross-body bag.
