Sew wall hangings that inspire you! We all make mistakes or do stupid things and that’s okay, it’s not the end of the world. I often encounter things in my daily life that make me feel discouraged, so I decided to create this inspirational banner.
This is a fun project that you can personalize to your liking. Making it have different fonts, fabrics and sizes, or changing its text is easily done. I'll show you how I do it in a few simple steps!~
You will need:
Non-woven fabric, needle and thread, scissors, sewing machine, thin wooden sticks, rope, fusible cloth, tracing paper, fabric glue.
1. Use a Word document, type the inspirational text in the selected font, and then print it on paper. My font is Cooper Black and size is 200.
2. Trace the letters onto the fusible cloth. Make sure your fusible side is facing up when tracing, otherwise the letters will go backwards when ironed onto the fabric.
3. Iron your letters onto the non-woven fabric.
4. Cut it out to get the letters we need.
5. For the banner, use some tracing paper to create a template. You can set the size of the banner according to your needs.
6. Use the template to cut out 2 pieces of fabric and 2 pieces of fusible fabric. Trim your fusible fabric so that it is smaller than the fabric.
Iron your fusible fabric to the back of the fabric.
Note: I didn't want my banner to be too light, so thats why I cut two pieces of fabric for the front and back. If your material is heavier, just cut one piece.
7. Place your two pieces of cloth together. Leave the top open and sew using a 1/4-inch seam allowance.
8. Trim seams at each corner.
9. Topstitch approximately 1/8 inch from the edge of the banner. After that row of stitches, sew another 1/8-inch stitch.
10. Fold the top edge 1/4 inch. Fold another 1 inch and iron. Pin in place, then place on machine and sew the fold about 7/8 inch from the top edge. Now you have an opening for the thin stick.
11. Place the letters where you think they fit. When you're happy with the placement, tape them in place with some fabric glue.
12. Cut the sticks to the desired length and insert them into the banner. Wrap a piece of string around each end of the stick and tie a knot.
Note: My sticks are 1/4 inch in diameter.
13. Hang it in a conspicuous place at home. If you feel it is not powerful enough, just look at it~
