DIY shorts: How to sew side seam baby shorts

How to DIY baby shorts by loving mothers. What is introduced here is the production of side-seam baby shorts, which are composed of two asymmetrical front and back pieces of fabric. The back piece is slightly larger than the front piece. The seams of the shorts are located on both sides of the shorts, not the center line.

Baby shorts sewing materials:

Pure cotton fabric, width 120 cm, length 40 cm;

Twill strip, width 2.5cm, length 80cm, used for hemming trouser legs;

Elastic band, width 1 cm, length 90 cm, used to tighten the waist and legs of trousers.

How to sew baby shorts:

1) Fabric cutting. Fold both sides toward the center, as shown in the picture. Draw the cutting lines and cut the front and back pieces of the shorts along the lines.

2) Shorts are sewn. Sew the fabric with a Z-shaped stitch, and then face the two pieces of fabric facing each other. Sew the two sides and the lower end. When sewing, leave a 2 cm opening above one of the sides (elastic band entrance). Use an iron to seal the seam allowance after sewing. Iron.

3) Waist production. The waist of the trousers is folded 2.5cm and then sewn together. There is a perforated channel for the elastic band above the seam.

4) Hemming of trouser legs. Turn the shorts to the front, wrap the diagonal strip around the trouser legs, sew them in line with the edges of the trouser legs, and then cut out the teeth. Turn the shorts inside out, fold the diagonal strip around the edge of the shorts, and sew in a circle.

5) Install the elastic band. Thread three elastic bands into the waistband and two trouser legs respectively, sew the elastic bands, sew the opening, and turn it over to the front to complete the production of baby shorts.
