Observations on street graffiti reflecting social phenomena from the beginning
Reflection and expression of cultural issues
It has now developed into a unique art type
Because of the lack of space for displaying works and lack of publication media
Street artists can be very free and spontaneous in their creative expression
This creates the considerable accessibility of street graffiti art
In recent years, graffiti art has also evolved from painting and spraying images on walls
Installation art upgraded to three-dimensionality
Let the busy people in the city gather in a small corner of the street
There are unexpected discoveries and surprises everywhere
Stand still for a while and reflect little by little
The famous British artist Slinkachu likes to make some miniature figures
Then he places his little people in the streets and alleys to combine them with the real environment
The trash/paper scraps/peel/insect corpses that are everywhere on the street are all scene props
Every little corner has become an interesting scene for him to tell stories
These tiny figures are the protagonists of the story
The little man and his little props are quietly having small incidents on the street
Slinkachu started creating the “Little People Project” series in 2006
The work consists of two parts
First there is a small street installation art
Then the installation work is framed and photographed to become a photography work
Because the work is in a realistic scene space
Sometimes children will take the little people home as if they accidentally picked up a forgotten toy
Occasionally, passers-by step on them and get damaged
But Slinkachu himself doesn’t care
The picture shows some of the social status quo he observed
And some reflections on real events that I want to express
Photographed through his unique photography angle
The installation screen of each small scene
Photographic works that resemble real events, stating the author’s observations
Most of the scenes he designed hide the alienation and loneliness of people living in big cities
There is a touch of sadness, a kind of lost and indifferent indifference
He hopes that every work hidden in the corner of the city will be discovered by surprise
Can arouse the indifference and loneliness of people living in cities
More care and attention to society, Slinkachu hopes so
The street-based side of my work plays with the notion of surprise
and I aim to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings.
The scenes I set up, more evident through the photography
and the titles I give these scenes aim to reflect the loneliness
and melancholy of living in a big city,
almost being lost and overwhelmed
After a window display in England, he quickly became famous due to the uniqueness of his works
The work has been exhibited in 40 cities
His second new book written by himself
Global Model Village: The International Street Art of Slinkachu was just published at the end of last year
The series of works is also being toured and exhibited in cities all over the world
