Stepan Kolesnikov Ukrainian painter

Stepan Kolesnikov Ukrainian painter Stepan Kolesnikov (Степан Колесников) (full name: Stepan Federovich Kolesnikov, Степан Федорович Колесников). Born on July 11, 1879 in Adrianople, Slaviano-Scherbsk, Luhansk, Ukraine, into a peasant family. In 1896, Stepans paintings were selected to participate in the All-Russian Nizhny Novgorod Exhibition, and he received a regional funded scholarship and the opportunity for appropriate free education. In 1897 Kolesnikov entered the Odessa Art Academy (one of the best higher art schools in Russia). After the Russian Revolution, Kolesnikovs family moved to Greece in 1919, and then to Serbia. After 1920 he lived in Belgrade, Serbia. In 1932 the artist suffered from Parkinsons disease. He died of illness in Belgrade in May 1955 and was buried in a cemetery not far from the Iberian Church in Belgrade. He was 76 years old.
