When it comes to shopping, sometimes you don’t necessarily have to buy anything. Even just looking at the displays in the windows and studying this year’s fashion trends or design elements is a happy thing. British artist and designer Benjamin Shine uses his most famous tulle designs to create a touch of elegance for the windows of Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York.
Shines works usually incorporate elements of invisibility, hardness, fluidity and ephemerality. The transparent and soft gauze seems to be fluttering in the wind, but is fixed by Shines skillful hands to form human figures or faces one after another. Kong, or various body movements, leads everyone to explore the relationship between surface and spirit.
The design of this series of windows is based on the theme of "seeing through materials". The tulle, as light as air, seems to be floating in the air casually, but in fact it outlines five beautiful female faces. Shine chose the eye-catching dark blue Colors such as red, bright purple, and vibrant ocher echo each other with the products displayed in the window. The expressions on these faces vary, either contemplative, intoxicated, or looking straight into the depths of your heart, as if asking Author: "What do you really want?"
Shine said: "I am very excited to exhibit this series at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. This handmade tulle series expresses the world beyond the essence of matter-energy, thought and emotion. I am very excited about how to reconcile materialism and the big world. In this age of distraction, we are increasingly interested in cultivating and maintaining our true selves, and through this exhibition, we hope to prompt everyone to reflect on themselves."
