Wheelchairs are used to help people with mobility impairments walk, but they cannot move forward once they encounter stairs or uneven roads. Recently, a team of nine college students spent a year designing a wheelchair that can climb stairs - Scalevo. This wheelchair is no different from an ordinary wheelchair when walking on flat ground. The great thing is that it can climb stairs.
When Scalevo is moving on flat ground, there are two crawling crawlers hidden above the wheels on both sides. When encountering stairs, the user only needs to press the button, and the crawlers will automatically lower themselves to climb the stairs. . The sensor will detect the height of each stair and automatically adapt to climbing. Users only need to use the joystick to adjust the climbing speed. For safety reasons, the crawler will stop as soon as the control lever is released. Of course, uneven roads can also be easily handled.
