The awning trailer (De Markies) is the brainchild of Dutch architect and designer Eduard Bohtlingk. Its design dates back to 1985, as an entry in a competition called Temporary Living, and in 1996 won the most popular award at the Rotterdam Design Awards. The awning trailer is only 4.5 meters long and 2 meters wide, but when you arrive at the campsite, you can instantly get nearly three times the space by unfolding the awnings on both sides.
