RearVision License Plate Frame Rearview Camera Developed by Former Apple Engineer

The United States has legislated to require all cars to install rearview cameras starting in 2019. Rearview cameras will be a good business opportunity in the next few years. A technology company called Pearl recently released a high-resolution wireless rearview camera device—RearVision. Some of the people involved in the development are former Apple engineers.

The RearVision product includes a license plate holder, OBDII adapter, mobile phone base and mobile APP (available in both OS and Android versions). The license plate holder is equipped with two fish-eye cameras with a 180-degree viewing angle (day and night), powered by solar panels. Using the OBDII adapter and fisheye camera, users can see the situation behind them through the mobile APP.

The video has two angle display methods, one is a wide viewing angle, and the other is a zoomed-in viewing angle. Of course, both images can be displayed at the same time. Under the zoomed-in view, if the device detects that it is about to hit a person or object, or other vehicles are passing through, it will send you an alert in real time. It can be seen from the product demonstration that the video picture is very clear and cannot be compared with ordinary reversing shots.

Unfortunately RearVision doesn't currently support CarPlay or Android Auto, and the company says they will address this issue soon. RearVision is also easy to install. Just fix the license plate holder to the car, plug in the OBDII adapter and install the mobile APP. You may be able to find similar rearview camera products on the market, but solar-powered ones are less common.
