Los Angeles, USA, recently launched a Philips Smartpole smart street light project. This Smartpole smart street light was jointly developed by Philips and Ericsson. It can not only provide lighting but also provide 4G LTE communication network.
Smartpole smart street lights have built-in LED bulbs and can also provide 4G LTE network services to the people of Los Angeles, which can effectively disperse the communication load in the area. Each street light is a miniature mobile phone signal tower, making the signal coverage wider and stronger. Currently, 100 Smartpole street lights have been replaced in Los Angeles, and 500 will be installed in the future, covering the entire city in the next four years.
