If you had a 3D printer, what would you print? Your DIY goddess, a model as big as yourself, or an Aston Martin sports car!
The Aston Martin DB4 is a classic, and some models can now be auctioned for millions of dollars. Buying one for collection? It’s not that easy, then print one yourself.
A New Zealand classmate named Ivan Sentch thinks so. He plans to print a 1961 Series II Aston Martin DB4, and it is 1:1 and can still go on the road! He uses 3D Studio Max to model it. A Solidoodle desktop 3D printer is used to print plastic frame modules to create the overall frame, and then small fiberglass modules are printed and assembled into the body. So far, he has printed 2,500 small modules, completing 72% of the printing work and more than 50% of the assembly work. Unfortunately, Sentch sold his house at the end of July last year and was busy moving. He had no place or time to continue his great career. But don’t worry, he promised to continue to complete this Aston Martin DB4, or we can persuade him to stop printing the car and print a house first^_^.
