This project is a prototype for a bigger project that I will make out of steel aluminum or wood...but for now its still a really cool cardboard craft and you can DIY one for yourself" Mechanical hand, control it with your fingers!~
Materials and tools: corrugated cardboard, rope, straws, hot glue gun, scissors, knife.
Cut four strips of cardboard (fingers) that are 20 cm long and 2.5 cm wide, and then cut another strip of cardboard (thumb) that is 20 cm x 3 cm. Mark these pieces of cardboard every 5cm along the length (these will be the knuckles).
Now cut four pieces of cardboard:
One 8×30 cm (arm piece),
One 8 by 25 (other arm pieces),
One 4 x 25cm (wristband),
A 2.5 x 25 cm (hand strap).
Adhere three fingers to the 8 x 30 cm piece of cardboard.
Then glue the thumb at about a 45 degree angle (or you can put it at a different angle for a better grip) and glue on a 8x25cm piece.
This is what it will look like when finished.
Now cut the straw into 16 pieces of 1 cm length.
Then glue these straws one by one into the small grids for your fingers and thumbs.
Thread the string through the straw segments and glue them to your fingertips. The palm end of the rope is knotted.
All fingers are treated this way.
Adhere the long cardboard strips used to secure the palms and wrists.
Adhere the wristband 5cm to the bottom of your arm at an angle that suits your hand.
Put your hand up.
Now put your fingers through the loop and you can control this cardboard hand toy~
