What kid doesn't love pretending? Not only does pretending provide a great way for children to develop social and emotional skills, its also a fun way for them to explore and learn about the world around them.
Not only are these binoculars great for encouraging kids to engage in science, technology, engineering, art, math-themed pretend play, but they also provide a great way to reuse toilet paper rolls.
Material Tools:
Two toilet paper rolls
White glue
Scissors
String or ribbon
Kraft paper
Optional: Decorative supplies (markers, crayons, stickers, tissue paper!)
1. First connect your rolling paper tubes by gluing them side by side. Wait for the glue to dry before proceeding to the next step.
2. This step is purely cosmetic, so if you want to skip this step, feel free to skip to the next step!
Select the paper to cover the binoculars. Wrap the paper around the binoculars and use scissors to cut off the excess paper.
3. Decorative binoculars. You can color them with crayons or markers, make collages out of tissue paper, and cover them with washi tape or stickers. Here cut out the tissue paper monstera leaves and glue them on.
4. If you want to be able to wear the binoculars around your neck, make sure you add a cord.
Use scissors to cut a small hole on the outside edge of each roll, about 1/2 inch from the top.
5. Take one end of the rope, pass it through the hole and tie it. Repeat on other side.
6. Use your new binoculars to explore in your own home or backyard~
