Everyone should be familiar with graffiti, but have you heard of "knitted graffiti"? In Scotland, there is a 104-year-old grandmother, Grace Brett, who may be the oldest street artist in the world. Born in London in 1910, she worked as a telephone operator and liked to embellish the town with beautiful colors through "yarn-bombed" methods.
Knitted graffiti is knitted with wool on a variety of items, including buses, phones, and anything else you can think of on the streets. This kind of street art makes objects look "warm" and "soft". The grandmothers actions also inspired an art team called the "Souter Stormers" to join. They set up shop in major cities in Scotland such as Ettrickbridge, Selkirk and Yarrow. (yarrow), has graffitied 16 scenic spots so far.
The old lady said: "I like my works to be seen by everyone and make this city more beautiful." The grandmother’s daughter is called Daphne, who is now 74 years old. She said: “My mother has been knitting all her life and made everything for babies.”
Wanderer feels that the colorful knitted graffiti does make the town more vibrant, but the old lady continues to create at the age of 104, adding a moving charm to these graffiti works!
