What were you doing when you were 21? Or what did you hope to do?
Many people may still be in school or graduating from college, wondering about their future and making every decision carefully. But Jasmine Dowling didn't think so. She had dreamed of being a fashion designer since she was a child, but she soon realized that her personality was not suitable for this industry. She loved creation and design, so she chose multimedia design, hoping to gain a foothold in digital design. The world can satisfy her desire for creation. But in the last year of university, she suddenly realized that sitting in front of a computer, studying programming syntax and designing user interfaces was not herself at all, so she made up her mind to transfer to Queensland College of Art to study visual communication design, and gave up resolutely. She is about to complete her degree, but this decision has completely changed her life!
After transferring school in 2013, she began to explore crafts and handmade font design. She stayed away from computers and tried painting and calligraphy. She experimented with using ink and brushes to create. Since then, she fell in love with the lines drawn one by one, and used social media website to showcase her work. But she still did not give up her love for fashion, so she also shared her favorite outfit inspiration on social networking sites, combining the two creative industries of art and fashion to let her Instagram show unique characteristics, and soon , she started receiving invitations for brand collaborations and has over 45,000 followers on Instagram.
Maybe she is not the first person to show illustrations on the Internet, and she is certainly not the first person to share fashion outfits, but she never wanted to become a famous blogger, nor did she want to share everything Setting the public as her target market, she said frankly: "I was my target market. I only created content and work that I loved and only posted images that were perfect in my eyes." Simply create works that you love deeply, it’s that simple, it’s for yourself, not others. Therefore, despite the recently established blog, she attempts to keep the space away from commercialization, and she only hopes to use the blog to build relationships with partner brands, not to earn advertising revenue.
Now, she is 21 years old, and she is looking forward to enjoying a leisurely weekend after graduation, being able to set up her own brand and exhibits, being able to cooperate with her favorite brands, and being able to continue to share her creativity and ideas. It is not because she is young and everything seems to be full of infinite possibilities, but because she believes in herself, has the courage to try, is not afraid to make decisions, insists on pursuing the goals she truly wants, and creates her own opportunities and future. Many times, we just need to make up our mind to move forward with our dreams.
