Do children like eggs? Different eggs have different sizes and nutrients, but eggs are all oval. The egg origami I shared today is different. The final shape is very beautiful. Students can put it in eggs while they're at it. Bell or lantern if you are interested, lets see how beautiful this geometric egg is!
This Snapology Egg is not difficult to make, but it requires a lot of paper. To assemble it, you should know some basic geometry. Snapology is a method of assembling strips of paper into polyhedral shapes; it was developed by Heinz Strobl.
This page will show you how to make an egg shape, but you can use the same method for other polyhedra.
Description of Snapology eggs
1. Obtain supplies and prepare
Step 1:
Lower the paper into many long strips. Works at any scale, but wider strips of paper will produce a larger project.
In this example, the paper is 1/2 inch wide and the final egg is 4 inches tall.
Step 2:
Fold the long strip of paper into the square section. The easiest way to do this is to use a piece of paper as a measurementDevices and other strips of paper will be folded.
Overlapping sheets are perpendicular to other sheets. Fold another way to get the first square segment.
Step 3:
Turn over the shuffled paper and fold it again to obtain the second square segment.
Continue in this manner until the entire length has been creased into square segments.
Step 4:
File cut to size:
?About 170 lines and 4 paragraphs
96 items with 6 paragraphs
?2 articles and 8 paragraphs, and
8 articles and 10 paragraphs.
Step 5:
Collapsed file to pointerDefined shape:
Paragraph 4→Leave Expand
, 6 segments → folded into triangles
, 8 segments → fold into square;
10 segments → folded into a pentagon.
2. Assemble into a triangular hexagonal wheel
Step 1:
From two triangular elements and a 4-segment connection. Pull the connector through the two triangles so that they are looped together.
Step 2:
Fold the ends of the connector between the two triangles. This card has two triangles together. Glue is not needed.
This is what it looks like when 2 units are connected etc.
