With the arrival of the Year of the Tiger in the lunar calendar, paper crafts related to the Year of the Tiger continue to be popular in the handicraft market. Recently, in order to enrich the winter vacation life of teenagers and increase their understanding of traditional folk culture, the Tianjin Education Commission specially planned to hold a unique paper-cutting activity to welcome the New Year. Liu Hengyue, a teacher at the Sports, Health and Arts Department of the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, said that this event, with the theme of "Thousands of Tigers Welcome the Spring", expresses the prayers of millions of young students in Tianjin for the Year of the Tiger through the art form of paper-cutting. At the same time, let students experience Chinese national art in the process of making paper-cuts for the Year of the Tiger, cultivate healthy and upward aesthetic taste, and inspire feelings of loving and building their hometown.


This event is divided into an activity stage and a display stage. Paper-cut artists, outstanding art teachers, etc. are invited to give lectures and select the works. The most creative award, the most innovative award, and the most potential award are established. For promoting the art of paper-cutting, teachers who are enthusiastic about inheriting traditional Chinese culture will be awarded inheritance awards, and the awards of students participating in the event will be included in the 2010 Tianjin School Art Exhibition.
