Equilateral triangles are often used in origami and paper-cutting. What should you do if you don’t have suitable auxiliary tools at hand at some point, but you need equilateral triangle paper? Here are 3 methods to help you solve this little problem~
How to make equilateral triangle paper 1
If you only have rectangular paper on hand, just follow the steps below and you can successfully obtain an equilateral triangle.
1. First fold the upper and lower sides in half, restore them, and leave creases.
2. Then fold the lower left corner toward the crease.
3. Then fold the trapezoidal part on the right side against the dotted line in the picture, and then restore it all.
4. Use scissors to cut off the excess left and right parts, and the equilateral triangle paper is ready.
How to make equilateral triangle paper 2
If you only have square paper at hand.
1. First, fold the lower left side in half slightly, leaving only some creases, and then do the same with the lower right side.
2. Then fold the left point to the upper point of the crease just now, and do the same with the right side.
3. Use the two heavier black spots on the left and right as the base points, and fold the lower half upward.
4. Open it completely and cut off the excess part to get the equilateral triangle paper.
Equilateral Triangle Paper Method 3
I only have square paper at hand.
1. First fold the square paper in half and unfold it to get the crease.
2. Fold C to the crease to get a red dot.
3. Fold out the red line and cut it.
