Quilting paper may no longer be unfamiliar to many people, and quilling paper is often called "rolled paper". People often use quilling paper for decoration, such as using exquisite quilling paper to embellish Christmas cards or decorate small objects. Some people even use quilling paper to make a beautiful quilling paper painting. Of course, there are also There are many artists who directly use quilling paper to make some exquisite works of art.
Paper Art Network has explained the basic units and models of paper quilling before (for details, see: Basic Paper Quilling Tutorial), but in order to unify it with common sayings and to facilitate the sharing of future tutorials, here it is again The basic quilling unit will be explained with an example. What is made in the example is a small paper-quilled flower, which is very exquisite. The whole process takes 30 minutes to complete.

The production of quilling paper itself requires many special tools, but the tutorial demonstrated here does not require these special tools. They are tools that are common, frequently used and easily available on hand:
A piece of double-sided colored paper (A4 size or letter size)
Toothpicks are either food picks or paper piercers
Steel Rule
Paper Knife
Pencil
White glue
Universal ruler with a round engraved interior (available in stationery stores)
Cutting pad or cardboard (often used to cut paper in paper mold making)
Paper with beautiful colors and patterns is used as the base for quilling flowers
1. First, use a steel ruler to mark a line with a span of 3mm on the edge of the double-sided colored paper, which will be used as a scale for cutting the paper later.
< br />
2.Because paper quilling requires the use of paper strips, in many cases you need to cut the paper strips yourself, but of course you can also buy them. You will need a ruler and a paper cutter when cutting strips of paper. When cutting paper, you must master the skills to be able to cut accurately. Fix the colored paper on the backing board with paper clips or clothespins, then press the ruler firmly, and then use the paper cutter to cut the paper. Be careful when operating to avoid hurting your hands. The cut paper strips will be 3mm wide and approximately 30cm long.

3. Now to make the petals, first take out a strip of paper, and then roll it into a tight roll with a toothpick (you can refer to the noun chart at the end of the article). When making, you need to make a small groove on the top of the toothpick so that one end of the paper strip can be stuck inside first, making it easier to make a tight roll.
< br />
4. Carefully remove the tightly rolled roll from the toothpick and place it into the round mold of a multipurpose ruler. The selected round mold has a diameter of 1.5-2cm. Then release the hand that is holding the roll tightly, and the roll will naturally loosen according to the size of the circular mold. When rolling paper with toothpicks, do not hold it with your hands for too long, as this will prevent the roll itself from unrolling naturally.
< br />
5. Use white glue to stick the edge of the paper roll and wait for it to dry.
< br />
6. Then gently flatten one end of the paper roll with your hands. At this time you will get a basic unit model of Yanzhi (you can refer to the diagram at the end of this article), the teardrop volume. There areThere are 20 basic unit models, and their production requires nothing more than two operations: rolling and pinching.
< br />
7. Make 5 teardrop rolls in the same way to use as the remaining petals of the flower.
< br />
8. Now let’s make the leaves. Repeat steps three to five. Then pinch both ends of the paper roll with your hands. The basic unit made at this time is called "eye-shaped roll".
9. Finally we make another deformed blade. According to the shape of this leaf, we call it "leaf roll". When making this basic model, you can first make an eye-shaped roll, and then pinch the two ends in two opposite directions to form a "leaf-shaped roll".
10. Now let’s make the stamens of the paper flower: This is very simple, just make a paper roll first, and then let it unfold in a circular mold (about 1cm in diameter). This is called "loose rolling".
< br />
11. Then assemble these prepared paper units according to the previous graphics, and use white glue to carefully paste the bottom onto the base plate. This is it!
