This decorative paper bowl is the perfect addition to any living room, and the entire bowl is made from 1/8-inch quilled paper strips, including the base. Friends who like this paper quilling bowl must be patient and follow step by step and you will definitely gain something. After the bowl is completed, we seal it with acrylic sealant to make this paper bowl very durable~
Materials Tools: 1/8-inch quilling strips in assorted colors, clear glue, quilling tool, bowl, low-odor clear topcoat (or equivalent sealant).
The first step is to make a bunch of tight rolls. Don't worry about being consistent in size, in fact it helps to have a little randomness in this step. This will result in each circle being unique and slightly different sizes. You may need to use 200-300 round tight rolls.
Use a ceramic bowl as a prop.
Apply glue to the bowl. If you're worried about handling it after applying glue, cover the bowl with parchment or wax paper. My bowl is ceramic so the glue tends to peel off.
The bottom of the bowl is made of very large round rolls. Glue the paper strips end to end until the length is sufficient. Use a quilling pen to roll up the quilling paper strips into a round roll with a larger diameter than the bottom of the ceramic basin.
Once the base is complete, I recommend applying a thin layer of clear glue to one side of the base, which will lock the strip in place and prevent it from unrolling.
Place the top of the bowl template on a hard surface, place the base over the base of the bowl, and glue the first row of tight rolls to the outer edge of the base.
Continue this process and shape your bowl by gluing circles on the prop. Its helpful to rotate the bowl throughout the glue drying process to prevent it from sticking to the prop.
Don't worry too much about roll placement, it will fill in nicely if you paste it casually. Allow each row to dry before adding the next row to prevent the bowl from falling apart.
After the bowl is dry, place it outside and coat it with lots of low-odor varnish, which will harden the bowl and make it very durable. Congratulations, your beautiful work of art is completed~
