For some preschoolers in China, colorful new kindergartens bring more fun to learning. Japanese architect Keiichiro Sako created a kaleidoscope-like design inside the school, placing 483 pieces of stained glass to give the entire space a rainbow of colors. Sako said: "Like a kaleidoscope, the entire space is constantly changing through the refraction of light."
Sakos architecture firm also added color to the doors and handrails. The rainbow also spills out into the outdoor grassy play area, where colorful circular glass helps children observe the city in all its colours. "By spending childhood in a beautiful space, childrens creativity can be cultivated," shared Sako. Located in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, China, the building pays homage to this city on the Loess Plateau. The Loess Plateau is the early birthplace of Chinese civilization. Just as the plateau nurtured a developing China, the school will nurture young people who will lead the next generation.
